East Asian Symposium on Environmental and Natural Resources Economics
School of Environment and Natural Resources (SENR) organized the East Asian Symposium on Environmental and Natural Resources Economics on November 28th-29th, 2005, at the Hall Room of Beijing Century Golden Resources hotel, with the Committee of Environmental Economics of Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences, the Korean Environmental Economics Association, the Japan Environmental Economics Association acting as co-organizers. About 200 professionals from the universities, research institutions and international organizations of China, Japan, Korea, and other countries participated in the Symposium.
The symposium comprised a keynote speech concerning Sustainable Development and Environmental & Natural Resources Economics and eight parallel sessions assigned closely to the hot issues in this field, including Global Change----Challenges to Environmental & Natural Resources Economics, Circular Economy, Environmental Infrastructure Investment and Environmental Protection Industry, Theoretical and Practical Contributions of Environmental & Natural Resources Economics, Environmental Protection Policies and Institutional System, Sharing Experiences of Environmental & Natural Resources Economics Research, Economic Evaluation of Environmental Impact and Natural Assets and Higher Education of Environmental and Natural Resources Economics.
Besides the above issues, the symposium also discussed the feasibility of establishing the East Asia Association of Environmental Economics and the regional participation in the Third World Congress of Environmental and Resource Economists.
In a word, this symposium made a great promotion of universities' cooperation and research cooperation in Environmental and Natural Resources Economics in East Asia.
